LEGO
Star Wars Clone Scout Walker $10
As a fan of Legos and Star Wars, the Clone Scout Walker is simply a
must-have. Not only is it a neat little forerunner of the ever-popular AT-ST
"Chicken-walker" of Episodes 4-6 (although, of course, it didn't
appear until Episode 5...but I digress) it's an absolute steal for its list
price.
For that price, you get a mean little military machine and its
not-quite-a-Clone-Trooper but not-yet-a-Stormtrooper pilot, complete with Lego's
imaginative take on a blaster rifle (turn it around and it becomes a high-tech
bullhorn!).
I love the look of the Clone Walker, and it balances nicely on its bird-leg
design. The no-nonsense chin-mounted dual blasters give it authority, and the
design looks speedy and well-suited for its task of - well, scouting. Whomever
your Clone Walker is chasing - Battle Droids, Wookies, Jedi, or Lego townspeople
unfortunate enough to have rubbed the Republic the wrong way, this walker will
do the job.
I do have a couple of minor complaints. The turret of the walker doesn't
rotate; the blasters do, giving it a full 180 traverse of fire, but they don't
rotate up and down. This means enemy starfighters would be able to take these
little guys out with no threat of retribution. Lego Clone Scout Walker is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
Second, the walker's legs don't move very far forward, so the positions you
can put them in are limited. Finally, there are a few spots on the walker that
are flimsy, mostly around the turret, but unless you're getting overzealous
handling it, it shouldn't be a problem.

Lego
Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (PS2) $40
I loved the original Lego Star Wars game. It was incredibly fun, very
replayable and had a wicked sense of humor. Lego Star Wars II is just as fun,
and covers Episodes IV-VI!
It's very rare to find a game that kids can play, adults can play, and everybody
truly loves it. This is one of those games. I'm sure kids enjoy the game quite a
lot - but pretty much every adult gamer I know loves this series as well. It's
fun, it has classic scenes from the Star Wars movies done in a VERY funny style,
and you can keep replaying it. You can play it with friends! You can unlock new
episodes, new ships, new characters, you name it.
The first thing you notice when you enter the "Cantina" is that now
you can MAKE NEW CHARACTERS!!! Yes, you can mix up Darth Vader's head, Princess
Leia's torso and a stormtrooper's pants. You can mix pretty much any character
you find in the game, and give them personalized names! Then you can bring 2 of
your creations into the game with you on free play mode. Talk about fun!! Lego
Star Wars II the Original Trilogy Playstation Two is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
The game gets even better. Yes, you work through all the classic scenes - Luke
buying the droids, the Death Star blowing up, and so on from the "first 3
movies" (in release order at least). The cut scenes are VERY funny. Being
able to play along as the various characters is amazingly fun in story mode, and
even better in "free play" when you can randomly switch between a
variety of characters to find all the hidden items.
I love the stud finding system. You want more money? Just replay a mission a few
times. You can get all sorts of fun "cheats" (not cheats, really, but
fun add-ons), you can buy new characters to use, and much more. It really gives
you incentive to keep playing.
Is a youngster in the house having trouble playing? Just have an adult pop into
the game for a while to help out, then the adult can pop out again, to let the
child keep playing! It is just brilliant. I love this game.
The graphics are superb, as last time, with little Lego movements seeming just
right. Their swaggers and sliders are incredibly funny. The sound, of course, is
the real movie soundtrack and is superb. You couldn't ask for anything better.
Even the tiny touches are funny. If C-3PO starts getting hit, he loses an arm,
then another arm, then a leg. You have him hopping along valiantly behind you,
trying to remain with your team. Chewie rips off arms from stormtroopers.
Now of course, there are always a few things the game designers get wrong. While
Chewie's arm-ripping is quite funny, it is REALLY annoying when he does it -
very slowly - in the middle of a firefight when you wanted him to be blasting
away.
The characters automatically switch into close combat mode if they think
someone is nearby, even if you really needed to fire away at someone with the
blaster. Even more annoying, if you're blasting away at "destructibles"
(wall items, whatever) and your friend gets near; you start bashing on him!
The camera is also really annoying. You get a *slight* amount of view control,
but not much. When you are craning around trying to find a mini-kit on the
screen and the camera keeps swooping wildly exactly where you do NOT want to
look, it can get very frustrating.
Still, these are minor problems in a game that is so stellar. I highly, highly
recommend this game for any gamer of any age. It's incredibly fun.
LEGO
Star Wars Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid
$45
Everybody wants to point out how "fragile" this set
is. And, while I'm not going to deny the fact that a wing or two may come flying
off at you once in a while, I will say that that shouldn't take away from the
appeal of this set. If you are going to zoom a Lego around a room, yeah...
you're going to have a piece break off now and again. So what? Pick it up and
put it back on.
Anyway, in my opinion, Anakin's Starfighter is one of the
sleekest vehicles in the Episode III line. It was also the first Sith set to be
available, coming out almost a month before the remaining nine (for whatever
that's worth). It has some unique pieces (the windshield, the yellow wings) and
some crafty uses of other ones (the fire-hose nozzles as side guns).
The Vulture Droid that chases Anakin through the stars is a definite step-up
from the original, butt-ugly-brown Droid Fighter set of past years, while the
Starfighter is as fresh a ship as the Tri-Fighter or even the ARC-170
Fighter--also featured in the Sith line. LEGO Star Wars Jedi Starfighter
and Vulture Droid is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
During the assembling process, there are a number of tedious
steps that can get you frustrated (including applying many stickers to both
ships); but the outcome is worth it. Again, I have had little problem with
feebleness on either the Vulture Droid or Starfighter and if you know how to
handle your Lego's, you shouldn't either.
Anakin's ship has three extendable legs that hold it up, while
the droid sits nicely on his own (rotating) wings. Putting this set together
took about 35 minutes, which is pretty average for a piece count of just over
200. As I said, it was at times tedious, but nonetheless an easy and fun
put-together.
I see no reason why anyone would be disappointed with this set. If you're going
to zoom it amongst the stars, there is a perfectly accessible 4x6 plate (under
Anakin) where you can grab a hold. And with two ships there is enough substance
for two people, while the ships are small enough to be carried by one person
should you opt not to share.
In the end, set #7256 is more durable than most make it out to
be. It is a great set for displaying and is reasonably priced considering it
features two vehicles and that, overall, it looks so neat. You can decide from
there, but I'd recommend it.
Star
Wars Complete Visual Dictionary (Hardcover)
$27
What an amazing, thorough, comprehensive guide to everything
Star Wars. NOTHING is left out. You get not only in depth profiles of every
major character, but every OTHER character in the universe.
It's so detailed that they break down each PART of each weapon,
ship, etc. For someone like myself who isn't the biggest Star Wars geek (but
wanting to learn more), this is a godsend. There are many, many, hardcore fans
out there that can reference almost anything and anyone to do with Star
Wars.
Well, now you can too, and you don't have to see the films 3245
times to do it. Star Wars Complete Visual Dictionary is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
It's a great companion to the "Ultimate Visual Guide" as well. It is a
combination of the Visual Dictionaries for the the other films, so all Episodes
1-6 are covered.

Lego
Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (GameCube)
$40
After the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in theaters
we got Lego Star Wars; a game that was a lot of fun to play simply because it
emulated the movies rather well with all the characters being made entirely from
Legos. Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is even better for the simple
fact of nostalgia. Any Star Wars fan will enjoy this.
You'll begin the game in the Cantina in Mos Eisley. This is the hub, and from
there you can go into any of the three episodes and play through them. At the
start you'll only be able to choose A New Hope, but after completing the first
chapter, you can choose The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi.
As you go through the three episodes you'll view some of the most memorable
moments of the movies acted out entirely with Legos. These moments aren't only
memorable, but they're given a hilarious charm. These moments are also from the
actual original versions of the movies as well. In other words, Han Solo DOES
shoot first. Lego Star Wars II the Original Trilogy Gamecube Video Game is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
The game is visually striking. Seeing your favorite characters from the original
Star Wars films as Legos is quite a treat. Not only do you get to have nostalgia
with Star Wars, but with Legos as well. Even better are the hilarious antics of
most of the scenes. To benefit the nostalgia even more is how John Williams'
classic score accompanies each and every level of the game. For a Star Wars fan
this game is the ultimate nostalgia.
As you play through each of the classic episodes, you'll be in control of
several characters. Not all at once, but you'll end up having to switch. At
times you may only have two characters, at others there may be as many as seven
in your party at once. Your characters, depending on who they are, also have
their own unique skills they can use. Jedi for example, can double jump and use
the force. Those who wield blasters have a grappling hook that allows them to
ascend to accessible platforms. The droids can open up special doors for
you.
Other characters, like the Jawas and Ewoks will be able to go into vents and
access areas the other characters can't. In all actuality, they're really no
different than their counterparts in the original Lego Star Wars. Also like the
original Lego Star Wars, you'll constantly have to switch between characters in
order to get through each and every area. You'll have to switch to R2-D2 to open
up a door, for example. More than one person can play at a time, which is also
really cool. You can also beat up your allies if you wish, and they respawn
instantly. The gameplay isn't completely the same, though, there have been some
small tweaks made here and there.
The additions to the gameplay aren't huge, but they are welcome. As you progress
through levels all your characters may be able to assemble certain materials
together to form a droid to help them fight. In the original Lego Star Wars this
ability was only given to the Jedi, but here everyone can do it. There are also
moments when you'll have to dress up as a stormtrooper in order to gain access
through certain doors.
You'll also be given the chance at some point to dress up as a bounty hunter
and you'll be able to use Thermal Detonators. Characters also have their own
unique abilities. Chewie, for example, can rip a stormtroopers arms right out of
his sockets. All of these are welcome additions, and that's not even all there
is to the gameplay. From time to time you'll be in command of vehicles.
Landspeeders, the Millennium Falcon, the X-Wing and more as you take on some of
the more memorable moments from the film, like destroying the death star.
It will probably only take you five hours at the very least to complete the
story mode of all three episodes. However, Lego Star Wars II is full of extras.
Each time you dispatch an enemy, whether it in story mode or not, you'll earn
money. You can also destroy certain objects and obtain money. You can use the
money you gain to purchase cheats and hidden characters.
Each time you get a new character they'll walk around in the hub, and you can
switch to them. "Purchasing" characters isn't the only way to get
them. You could easily just use one in story mode and you've got him or her.
You'll also get hidden characters if you've got save data from the original Lego
Star Wars. Just unlocking all the characters takes a lot of time.
The importance of unlocking characters is so you can play through certain
aspects of the free play mode. There are places that in story mode the default
characters couldn't reach. These hidden characters might be able to reach it,
though, and so you will find yourself playing through levels again. The good
news is these levels are so much fun that playing through a second, third or
even fourth time is no hassle at all.
Free mode also offers a way for you to customize what a character looks like.
You could put Yoda's head on Luke Skywalker's body, for example. This is mostly
just a lot of fun to mess around with. Some combinations are just all out crazy.
You could, for example, put Chewbacca's head on Leia's body from when she's
wearing the slave outfit in Return of the Jedi. This really doesn't do a whole
lot for the gameplay as a whole, but it is quite fun to mess around with, and
the combinations are endless.
The only real problem with this game that I can really think of is that there is
little, if any, challenge at all. Each time you die you respawn right where you
left off and you have infinite lives. There's really no such thing as a game
over. If you die the only penalty is that you lose money. However, the sheer fun
factor of the game is enough to do away with that, and still makes Lego Star
Wars II a treat.
Lego Star Wars II surpasses the original in just about every way. It's a Star
Wars game for the classic trilogy done with instant perfection. If you love the
original Star Wars movies, you'll definitely want this game.
Star
Wars - Episode III, Revenge of the Sith (Widescreen DVD Edition)
$15
I never really understood what was so great about the Star
Wars movies when I was growing up. I was born after the originals were released,
so I was never a part of that "culture" that Star Wars is. I saw them
when I was around 13 or 14 and fell asleep before the end of all three.
I never had the desire to really see them again until Phantom
Menace came out. I didn't see it in theaters, but I watched it, liked it, and
waited for the next one to come out. I liked Episode II a lot better (I have to
admit that half of that appreciation is because I love Haydn), but I still
didn't really "get" Star Wars.
Well, I saw the trailer for the third film, and I thought it
looked really good. I also thought it was going to be sad, but I didn't realize
that I was going to cry all the way home from the movie theater! After the
experience of seeing Episode III, I now finally understand what Star Wars is all
about, and I love it! Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith DVD is included
in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action figures,
posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
This movie perfectly ties the two trilogies together. It is
so emotionally powerful. I know a lot of people say that George Lucas can't
write dialogue and can't direct anything but action scenes, but I completely
disagree. Though some lines are a bit corny, each scene is treated with a
tremendous amount of care and sets up your emotions so that you react to certain
sad circumstances (I'm sure you know what I'm referring to) in a very personal
way. I have watched all three of the first series since seeing Episode III, and
I appreciate them so much, because now I understand!
LEGO
Star Wars V-Wing Fighter $10
Let's face it, most of the Episode 3 sets weren't all that
great. Some were, most weren't. Lego decides to end the Episode 3 line right now
by introducing a V-Wing. Now you may think that this is not the big bang to end
Episode 3, but trust me, this set is better than most Episode 3 sets (quite
possibly the best).
The V-Wing was another fighter for the Republic that was produced in mass
numbers. I really like the design of the V-Wing because of its sleek shape and
blunt nose. If you look at this set head-on, you can tell it will become the TIE
Fighter (which it does). This set is surprisingly strong. I dropped it on the
floor and nothing broke off. I give Lego points for that.
The overall design is accurate to the movie except for one
thing: the wings. The wings SHOULD be facing horizontally in landing mode and
then vertically in fighting mode. It's only a small error, and you probably
wouldn't care about it if you're not a star wars nut like me. Lego Star Wars
V-Wing Fighter is included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for
kids, action figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
This set comes with one clone pilot and the head of an awesome looking droid.
Note that I only said "head", not the whole body, which is really a
shame. I would have liked to have the whole astromech. The clone pilot is the
same as from the Arc-170.
So there you have it. This is a great set. Plain and simple. It works well and
doesn't come at a high price either. This is great for army-building so maybe
you should click the pic above and pick up a few. I know I did.

Obi-Wan Kenobi.
LEGO
Star Wars Jabba's Sail Barge $72
The Sail Barge was a highly requested set. I was a bit skeptical
on how this set would work when I first heard about it. It works...and works
well.
What a plethora of minfigs! I thought that the Gammorean Guard had been lost
forever. Jabba was a no-brainer but I'm glad to see the Gammorean. Lando's
helmet...It's like a thing of beauty. I was expecting a samurai helmet but Lego
tricked me and pulled this awesome helmet. Cheers! We also got Slave Leia back!
Yay! This was a nice jackpot of figures. It also has R2 (With drink server),
Luke, Han, and Boba.
Well you probably didn't want to get this for the figures, (or did you?) so
how's the barge? One word: Beautiful. The barge is alot longer than what it
looks like on the box. The stickers aren't all that bad. Don't hurt me... Well
anyway my only two actual complaints are the Boba Fett launcher and the
sails.
The Boba Fett launcher, is well, out of place. I don't like it.
I took mine off, it's not a necessity anyway. The sails are always in the way
when placing figures. It gets annoying. Those are my two complaints. The
interior of the barge is quite comfortable and is, well, just dandy. LEGO Star
Wars Jabba's Sail Barge is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
The skiff is a MUCH better improvement from the original. The plank is now large
enough for a figure to stand on. You actually pull the plank out this time. It's
an ingenious design. The skiff is great and a nice little addition.
The sarlaac is rather plain and the figures don't fit in its mouth. But me. I
would have bought the set without the sarlaac anyway.
What a great set. It is definitely worth the money. Heck, it's worth even more.
This set is definitely on the top 5 greatest star wars sets of all time. Get
this as a birthday gift or Christmas. I would get this over the new Imperial
Star Destroyer any day. Click the pic above and get this set and be glad you
did.
Lego
Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy PC Game
$27
Everything that's great in the first game is back with even more additions.
You can even load in your saved characters from the first game into this one.
In this version, even non-Jedi can build out of the scrap Legos along the
way. There is also a bizarre feature that allows you to create your own
character. I.E. matching Princess Leia's bikini with Vader's helmet, and Han
Solo's pants. This is just another example how it's more about the imagination
and fun rather than accuracy of the storyline, which it is also parodies
brilliantly.
The game does take a bit more requirements for the PC to run smoothly than the
previous, but it still looks and sounds great on my P4 1.7ghz. No problems with
installation for me. Lego Star Wars II the Original Trilogy PC Game is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
It does pack a punch and is loaded with action and problem solving that has
enough for all levels of skill. There really is no way to "lose all your
lives", so you just keep playing trying to rack up as much coin before you
do lose life (which you immediately get back, just with a loss of coins) and you
just keep playing until you reach the end of a level trying to find as many
hidden items and secrets (which there is tons) along the way. Lots of replay
value for all ages.
Of course this is the original trilogy, so it already is packed with the great
nostalgia of Han Solo, Jabba's palace, and AT-AT's...combined with Lego's this
is an absolute winner.

LEGO
Star Wars Slave I $45
This Star Wars Lego (Lego #6209) is yet another excellent kit in
this series of Legos. This particular kit is loaded with interesting features,
and has enough pieces (537) to require a couple of hours of building time.
This set has four people; Boba Fett, robot IG-88, Dengar, and a Bespin Guard.
Han Solo in carbonite is also included, along with a special storage location in
Slave 1.
This set has numerous compartments. The cockpit swivels along with the
outriggers, on either side, similar to Boba Fett's ship in the movies. There are
small levers on either side of the ship. One lever attaches to the storage area
that secures Han Solo's carbonite block. The other lever launches a
spring-loaded missile that you can access through the top of the kit. Yet
another swiveling piece on the back end of the ship drops two bombs. LEGO Star
Wars Slave I is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
There are two small compartments (one on either side of the ship) just above the
small levers that could hold a blaster. Along the spine of the ship are the
covers for the missile, two doors that swing up to allow weapons to swing out,
and two smaller doors that swing open to allow storage racks to swing out. Also
on either side of the ship's spine is a pair of swiveling guns.
This set contains a lot of pieces that are lightly supported, and thus this
particular kit is poorly built for rough handling. As I maneuvered the ship the
front portion under the cockpit came loose, and I had to carefully reattach it.
Most Legos kits require the pieces to be firmly pressed together and this one
even more so.
This kit is a must have for a collector of Star Wars Legos, or anyone looking
for an interesting Lego kit. Enjoy!

LEGO
Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer
$99
I judge Legos based on two factors. Appearance and Playability
This thing gets a 5 stars for appearance. It's massive, and it looks good. It
looks like a Star Destroyer, not a cut away of a Star Destroyer or just a
portion of the star destroyer. One of my biggest gripes about modern Lego sets
is that Lego seems to have gotten away from making their sets look like what
they are supposed to be. For instance, the Harry Potter Castles are really just
portions of the castles; they are cutaways.
If you look at them from the side or back it ruins the effect
because it doesn't look like the outside of a castle. In the 80s, the castles
were cool from all angles, and to see the inner parts you had to open them up.
Well, the Star Destroyer is old school like that. From the outside it looks like
Star Destroyer from all angles. To see the inner workings you open it up. Good
job Lego. Lego Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
The other factor I look at is playability. I give this set a 4 out of 5 in this
area. The things I look for are all the ingenious little Lego mechanics,
gadgets, and devices that make the sets fun to mess around with. This one has Darth
Vader's meditation chamber with a manually operated crane to remove his helmet,
a platform where vader talks to the emperor hologram, an escape shuttle that
flies out the bottom (this works well and doesn't easily fall out by accident),
a storage closet for stormtrooper rifles, and a bridge with a slick sliding
motion when you open it. The way you remove the top to open it up is also pretty
slick.
While this thing can be fragile in a couple places, I did not have any problems
with it falling apart. I've had zero problems with the bottom falling out like
other's have mentioned. I wonder whether these people took the time to make sure
all the connections are tight and whether they're picking it up in a way that
causes this problem. I pick mine up with two hands from the edges and it's never
been an issue.
The two area's I've had problems with are the big top panels
falling off when you open it too roughly, and the mechanism to open the bridge coming
off. These are fairly minor issues that take 2 seconds to fix and they don't
happen every time you open it up. You just have to be careful. Its no worse than
any other big Lego set. Also, you CAN fit both the officers in the bridge.
The only reason I give this set a 4 for playability is because with a set this
big, I'd like more gadgets. Some of the Harry Potter sets are really
over-the-top with all the stuff he sets do (hidden chambers, automatic doors,
etc. etc.) I was expecting a little more with this one, but it still holds
better than most sets.
Lastly, this is probably a set for older kids (or adults who still think they're
kids.) Like all the big Lego sets, you have to be gentle with it. Basic physics
tells you that if you pick it up with one hand by putting your hand in the
center of the bottom, the bottom is going to push in (especially if your hands
are small.) Some younger kids might not be careful enough with it to keep it
from falling apart on them. Again I didn't have a problem.
Star
Wars Ultimate Lightsaber $25
i'm a sixteen year old high school student, and i love star
wars. i was darth vader for halloween, complete with thirty dollar voice changer
helmet. i thought that thing was the epitome of star wars merchandise cool. but,
no. then i discovered this. wow.
this thing is awesome. i dunno about thousands of combinations, but there's
enough in this kit to keep you happy for a while. as for the double-ended saber
not lighting up on both ends, that's alright. only two sith have ever routinely
wielded a double-ended blade, it's that difficult to fight with. so, it wouldn't
be very canon for you to have one, anyway. same with the purple blade. the
crystals that emit a purple blade are super rare, it makes sense in a way for it
not to be included.
anyway, i was pretty satisfied with this product. it's a little over-hyped, but
worth the money, i think. oh, a tip? build it with a friend, it'll be more fun.
star wars ultimate lightsaber is included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy,
games, toys for kids, action figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video
games.
and i almost forgot. the thing i didn't like? cell batteries. what's that all
about? cells are expensive, man. other sabers- scratch that, most all other
electronic toys period- use AAs. but that's it's only downfall.
like i said, worth the money. and okay for kids, i fought pretty hard with mine,
they're pretty hardy.
Lego
Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox)
$40
The original Lego Star Wars was a great little lighthearted romp of a game:
an amusing way to play out the three most recent Star Wars films in virtual
form. The Lego and Star Wars combo proved to also be a terrific formula for the
game space, generating an experience in Lego Star Wars that was oftentimes even
more entertaining than the source material it was based on.
Like any good sequel, Lego Star Wars II improves on the original in almost
every way. But most importantly, it's about the good episodes now. For that
reason alone, Lego Star Wars II is one of the most enjoyable games of this fall.
Featuring the story lines and characters of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes
Back, and Return of the Jedi, it's hard to believe that any Star Wars fan (which
is, what, pretty much everyone?) wouldn't love this game. While the gameplay is
pretty standard action fare for the most part, it's somehow made so much more
fun because of the Lego characters. Levels that could perhaps be dismissed as
lackluster in other games absolutely work here.
Star Wars scenes are comically recreated and look and sound great (though, to
nitpick, some of the John Williams music samples don't play in their entirety,
making you wish for more). But make no mistake, even those without a
predilection for Star Wars will enjoy this -- it's the combination of great
story lines, characters, and comedic elements provided by Lego that makes it all
work. Lego Star Wars II the Original Trilogy XBox video game is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
The game's designers clearly had fun with it all -- you'll be continuously
entertained by how they incorporated elements of the film into the gameplay
(often taking some rather humorous liberties along the way). The Lego brand
clearly afforded them freedom to have fun with the Star Wars license.
While most of the gameplay consists of run-and-gun action, there are lots of
puzzles to be found -- many of which are quite good, even though some have
rather unclear objectives -- and several missions that take place in vehicles
(from AT-ST Walkers to X-wings). While the vehicular stages vary in terms of
quality, the mere fact that so many exist really adds to the scope of the game.
Lego Star Wars II offers a surprising amount of playtime, and is much larger
and longer than the original game (which was one of its biggest criticisms).
Once again, you control a group of characters that pertain to a scene, allowing
you to easily switch between them on the fly in order to take advantage of their
unique abilities. Unfortunately, though, your A.I.-controlled buddies are kind
of clueless at times and offer little support in battles (while they do fire,
it's all for show -- their shots inflict no damage on enemies). The game's far
better when a second player joins in to play (a game can be joined at any time);
it's loads of fun as a co-op experience. It's just a shame that Lego Star Wars
II offers no online support.
What's also neat about the game is that there's a lot to do outside of the
standard mission structure. There are lots of collectables to gather, secret
items to discover, and hidden areas to unlock (certain areas aren't immediately
accessible on the first play through -- only on return using other characters
can they be opened). The option to build your own custom characters with parts
taken from others (such as a C-3PO equipped with a Darth Vadar head) is amusing
as well.
There's definitely a lot of fun to be had with Lego Star Wars II, making it a
good choice for those looking for a solid action-platformer; it's an ideal
choice for those fans of Star Wars. It's also perfect for almost all ages,
offering a rewarding experience even for younger players.
Star
Wars - Episode I, The Phantom Menace (Widescreen DVD Edition) (1999)
$14
"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we
will have revenge."
"And you young Skywalker. We shall watch your career with great
interest."
"Train the boy, Obi-Wan. He is the Chosen One."
"Wipe them out. All of them."
- The "Star Wars" saga begins with Darth Maul planning to expose
himself, former Senator turned Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine plays guidance
counselor to a young Anakin Skywalker, while Jedi Knight, Qui-Gon Jinn gives a
final word to his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, but, all Darth Sidous wants is
galactic domination by wiping the slate clean & remaining "The Phantom
Menace"
Seventeen years after the conclusion of the "Star Wars" saga, with
"Return Of The Jedi", creator George Lucas directs the first prequel
episode entitled "The Phantom Menace". Star Wars Episode I the Phantom
Menace DVD is
included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action
figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away..., galactic trade routes are under
severe scrutiny at the hands of the Trade Federation, led by the insectoid-like
Vicorey, Nute Gunray. When trade routes to the small planet of Naboo are cut
off, an aggressive act even by Federation standards, two Jedi Knights, Qui-Gon
Jinn & his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, are sent to peacefully resolve the
situation. Jedi Knights are guardians of peace & justice to the galaxy. They
believe in the power of "The Force", an energy force that combines the
galaxy together.
Unbeknownst to the Jedi, Gunray is secretly in league with an evil Jedi, known
as a Sith Lord, named Darth Sidious. Sidious commands Gunray to an all out
invasion & ultimate control of Naboo with the planet's ruling Queen, Padme
Amidala, being forced to sign a treaty between the Federation and her people. If
Amidala doesn't sign the treaty her people will be in trouble.
Sidious also makes a move to kill the Jedi & upon their arrival on board
Gunray's Federation Control Ship, the Jedi are attacked by Federation battle
droids & are forced to quickly come up with their own battle plan.
Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan sneak aboard a transport ship to Naboo's surface and with
the help of the floppy eared, IQ challenged, aquatic Gungan, Jar-Jar Binks help
Queen Amidala to escape from Naboo, aboard her royal starship.
The plan is to get Queen Amidala to the city planet of Coruscant & to the
Republic senate. There she can confer with the Naboo senator, Palpatine, &
find out what is going on with Naboo, whose behind the attack, & why. The
Jedi's plan runs astray while escaping from the planet, as Gunray attacks the
Queen's ship, destroying their hyperdrive (a device that can get them to their
destination in a quarter of the time).
After an emergency landing on the sand planet of Tatooine, Qui-Gon & the
Queen search for suitable replacement parts, & have a run in with the junk
dealer Watto. Watto informs Qui-Gon that he does have the part but the money the
Jedi has is no good. But hope isn't all lost when Qui-Gon meets Anakin Skywalker
a young boy who works with Watto at the junkyard & is Watto's slave. Qui-Gon
senses an extreme presence of "The Force" in Anakin & comes to the
conclusion that he might be the chosen one who can bring balance to "The
Force", as well as, peace to the galaxy. Through the art of gambling &
a little usage of "The Force", Qui-Gon gets the much needed part &
frees Anakin from Watto.
Finally, making it to Coruscant, Queen Amidala confers with Senator Palpatine
& the Senate & receives a shock. The Supreme Chancellor, Valorum,
decides that Naboo is to be under Federation control until proper measures can
be taken with the Senate. Amidala fires off a vote of no confidence and Valorum
is replaced (through a Senate vote) with, to the surprise of all, Senator
Palpatine as the new acting Chancellor.
But, Amidala decides not to sit by the sidelines and watch her people suffer
& decides to lead the attack, with the aid of Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan, to take
back the planet of Naboo & free her people. She also gets help from an
unlikely source.
With Nute Gunray unable to retrieve Queen Amidala, Darth Sidious sends out his
own Sith apprentice, Darth Maul, to retrieve the Queen (to sign the treaty),
kill the two Jedi, & take control of Naboo.
All bets are off as the battle for Naboo commences with the Jedi & the Sith
facing off for the first time in over a thousand years.
"Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" is a great film, but, can't
quite measure up to the first three "Star Wars" films (I personally
rank this Episode last in the overall saga).
Watching the first three films a million+ times over it was really odd to watch
a "Star Wars" film without hardly any of the classic characters. Sure,
their is Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, See-Threepio & Artoo Detoo, but, there isn't
any Luke, Leia, or Han Solo, either.
It was great to see the beginnings of a lot of the "Star Wars" mythos
& there are some classic scenes in here. Obi-Wan & Anakin meeting for
the first time, the introduction of Artoo-Detoo (people freaked at the showing I
was at when Captain Panaka reads Artoo's call sign to Queen Amidala), are just a
few.
The highlight's of the film are easily the pod race sequence (that wins Anakin
his freedom from Watto, & gets the part for the Queen's ship), the lightsaber
duel between Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan & Darth Maul (the Jedi are at the top of their
game here), & the battle for Naboo.
The movie almost collapses with two things - Jake Lloyd's acting & Jar-Jar
Binks. The overall acting is also "limited". Lucas never really
confers with his actors unless he wants to try something different, his way. It
seems to be his way or the highway. Either way it's a major fault of Lucas &
hurts this film as well as the following two prequels. Faster, more intense,
sometimes, just isn't enough.
The effects are quite a standout and are better than all the effects from
"The Matrix" films put together. Don't believe me? If you watch the
film again, keep in mind that the Gungan/battle droid battle for Naboo is all
digitally realized, with the only true element being the grassy field the battle
takes place on (the Oscar for best FX that year should have went to this film
& not "The Matrix").
"Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" is best presented in the
widescreen format, with Dolby Digital EX and enough of "The Force" to
put Darth Maul back together again.
Star
Wars DELUXE TRANSFORMER MILLENIUM FALCON
$34
It's the best toy concept ever. It's a geek's dream. It's Han
Solo and Chewbacca which transform and combine to form the Millennium Falcon.
It's got lights. It's got sound. It's got firing missiles. It's got working
landing gear. It's got all kinds of things.
If you'll forgive a little boasting I thought of the Star Wars Transformers idea
when I was like 8. So I was excited to see that come into being. If only I could
have been the one to sell them the idea... Anyway, when they announced the line
I got to thinking about which figures they should make. The very first thing I
thought of was Han and Chewie forming the Falcon. Hey, I'm good at this, maybe I
can get a job with Hasbro. So I had already decided this would be the best toy
ever conceived when they announced it was coming.
I have not been disappointed! First of all the packaging is a little better than
the others in the line. There's not so much empty, useless space in the box, the
silly little discs are absent as is the poorly written action paragraphs on the
back. The package just looks refined a little. Yeah, yeah, who really cares
right? Star Wars Deluxe Transformer Millenium Falcon is included in the top star
wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action figures, posters, books, DVD,
movies and video games.
I'm usually not impressed with the electronics on toys like this. I'm not
getting them for playability, though, so I can't speak for everyone. This one is
a different story. You get some comments from Han, growls from Chewie, and a few
other sounds, plus light-up thrusters and some lights around the upper gun. The
sounds are good recordings, better than what I've heard on most toys like this.
The activation buttons and battery compartments are well disguised so they don't
spoil the look.
I don't care anything about having pilot figures, but this one includes two. The
cockpit opens and has 2 seats for them (though front and back rather than side
by side). There is an extra seat on Han's chest for the Han pilot in mech mode.
The figures look good. In fact, Chewie is the best of the line. He is very
broad-shouldered (more so than the regular character, but the look fits) with a
chest that slides forward like protruding pecs, a minor detail that adds a great
deal of heft to his upper body. The brown accents help give him a Wookiee look
though mostly he is light gray. His head sculpt looks great with a lot of detail
given to his fur, but it's mechanized fur which is interesting.
Something else of note is that his feet are different than
the picture on the box and internet. He actually has brown paws that flip out.
The feet were one of the biggest nitpicks I noticed in the promotional images so
seeing that they actually look better on the figure was exciting. His hands are
by far the best sculpt of any so far. They are so far beyond the early figures
like OB1, I wouldn't think they would be from the same line. Some others have
had better hands, but Chewie's are the only ones that are anywhere near
impressive.
The only real ship part he has hanging around is the
thrusters (unless you count the cockpit on the shoulder, but that's optional).
Other than that he really doesn't look like he would turn into anything like a
ship. His articulation is great with several joints along his arms, rotating
wrists, rotating head, posable hips and knees, etc. I've had no problems
balancing him and have been able to get him into a variety of active-looking
poses.
Han isn't quite as impressive as Chewie, but he still looks better than almost
any other figure. The more organic head sculpt isn't as sharp. Helmets just
translate better I guess (with the exception of Chewie). Still, it has a lot of
detail and looks as good if not better than the other human faces in the line.
His hands are sculpted better than most but not even close to Chewie's level of
detail. Han's blue accents aren't as distinctive as Chewie's brown but do give
him some color. He has more visible ship parts hanging around, most notably two
huge shoulder pads. The problem with these are that positioning them flat over
the shoulders where they look the best interfere with shoulder movement. He has
the same basic joints as Chewie, but his arms don't move as freely, and he
doesn't balance as well which limits his poses more.
The ship looks good. There are some tell-tale cracks in the hull where the
pieces don't sit flush and some exposed joints, but it looks solid. The only
things I really don't like are Chewie's exposed fists and the holes right in
front of them. Being a combiner the joining of the two has to be taken into
account. It holds together impressively well, better, in fact, than some of the
regular ships.
There is a trade off for holding together so well which is difficulty in
separating the parts for transformation. Splitting the ship apart for the 2
figures can be frustratingly difficult since no one wants to apply so much force
the figure breaks. While not as bad as that, Han's feet can be a problem, too.
Unsnapping them can easily cause his leg joints to separate. It's easy enough to
fix but a little annoying. Other than the difficulties of force, the
transformation is moderately challenging, nowhere near as hard as most
Alternators, but difficult enough to be fun.
There are a few parts that have to come off for the transformation. The cockpit
and side missile block Han's feet and have to be removed regardless of what you
do with them in mech mode. The cockpit is intended for Chewie's shoulder. The
dish has to come off and is most commonly placed on Han's shoulder pad. The
guns, of course, come off so they can be held, but it's possible, if you want,
to leave them on until the end and have the characters reach around and remove
them by hand. While I prefer to not have parts that have to be removed for
transformation, I'm glad there aren't any more than the few there are on this
one.
I think my biggest complaint visually is the side missile launcher. This is the
biggest deviation from the look of the regular Falcon design. It spoils the look
of the ship and doesn't do anything for the Han mech. The firing trigger also
sticks out in an unattractive way. With all the guns already there what's the
point of this extra launcher? It doesn't look as bad on the real thing as it
does in the picture, but I would have preferred not to have it.
I can't think of too many improvements they could have made other than losing
the extra side cannon and not removing the cockpit. It would have been great if
they could have found a way to include Chewie's trademark bandoleer, but not
having it is not a major loss. The only other neat addition might have been a
working landing ramp that we see them use in the movie.
This is a well-made Transformer. It's considerably more pricey than the others
in the line, but it's exceptionally fun and great looking. If the cost isn't
daunting to you I highly recommend it.
Star
Wars Trilogy (Widescreen DVD Edition with Bonus Disc)
$51
First, with this dvd release of the original Star Wars Trilogy, IMHO things
never looked better (in the clean, crisp, digital remastering sense). Shades of
light and whatnot are just mind blowing.
THE TINKERING: After reading all sorts of pro's and con's online the past weeks
regarding new changes and tinkering to movies by their creators, I think
regardless of one's point of view it is a very serious issue. I think it is
serious enough that people ought to sit down and start thinking about where this
kind of thing can go, (and is going in my opinion), and put some real effort
into doing something about it. I wonder if there is some organization(s) or
something that can get involved?
There was a time when people started wanting to colorize old black and white
movies and then a lot of flack came from film preservation societies or what
not. Now, the accepted line is "don't colorize old movies". It seems
to me that with the advent of CGI and the desire for some to want to go back and
tinker with their films, that the new line in this matter ought to include
freedom for the artist to purse their original vision and touch up their work,
yet also dedication to preserve history as well. Basically: "tinker all you
want with your work so long as the original product released to the public is
historically preserved as well". Star Wars Trilogy DVD is included in
the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action figures, posters,
books, DVD, movies and video games.
History is getting passed over and covered up with new and improved tinkered
versions of things. It's not just appalling, it is very disturbing when you
think of the mindset of this and where this could lead (and has led in the past
under other graver circumstances). I'm no conspiracy theorist, but give me a
break. It's a bad set of premises that are being used. It leads to a blurring of
history. I don't have any problem with an artist wanting to pursue their vision.
But I think others have just as much right to enjoy things as originally
presented and culturally historically integrated. Anything less infringes on
both parties rights (artist and audience) and upon the mentality of future
generations. Personally, I think most of the "fixes" fit in fairly
seamless, but some are clearly not necessary. An artist can mess with something
too much at times.
Again, there needs to be a balance. A balance between the rights of the artist
and the rights of history and the viewing audience. Let's go with this basic
premise that says a living artist can do pretty much whatever he wants with his
"own" work after it has already been released. (In fact, it would be
easier if the Star Wars movies was Lucas's own work, but so many of others are
involved in making a movie that it certainly is not. It's a group effort).
That means history is bound to the whims of the artist. Lets say that Lucas
hypothetically one day suddenly became a racist, or hyper religious, or
whatever, and started inserting such things into his movies now. Don't you see
where this leads? Or what if he lost his taste, and decided to CGI out some of
the key actors to replace them with pop stars or religious icons or whatever? Or
what if he decided to add enough nudity to turn it into a rated X movie now?
Movies then in fact would become mere WORKS IN PROGRESS and not to be judged on
their own merit as they stand upon initial release. The public may as well throw
away notions of seeing a final release upon a movies premiere. All premieres are
mere work prints. You might as well also dump the Academy Awards then while you're
at it, or make it clear that they are only for the "initial release".
Even when movies were colorized they made it clear that it was the
"Colorized Version". Lucas makes no clear historical distinction
between these new modified versions of movies and the originals. Again, like I
said above: "tinker all you want with your work so long as the original
product released to the public is historically preserved as well."

Darth
Tater Mr. Potato Head $12
I love this toy. As a Star Wars fan, I had to have it. After
seeing it on Good Morning America, I immediately knew it would be a hard task to
track it down, but it was worth the wait. It is so adorable and very durable. I
think it is cleverly designed.
It has the great features of the original Mr. Potato Head with
internal storage. It comes with 13 Darth Vader pieces that you can mix and match
to your hearts content. I agree with another reviewer that it should have
additional optional parts such as Princess Leia's hair buns, etcetera. Darth
Tater Mr. Potato Head is included in the top star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys
for kids, action figures, posters, books, DVD, movies and video games.
I would recommend this toy to any Star Wars fan. I will scour this web site
again to click the pic above and buy another one so I can keep it in its
original package. Meanwhile, I will enjoy displaying this one!
Highly recommended!
Star
Wars Light Saber Battle Game $45
This is honestly one of the best toys of the year, if not the
decade. It uses Xavix technology (you know--the bowling/tennis/baseball games)
to track every move of your lightsaber and allow you to battle against many of
the Episode I, II, and III characters.
I know, it doesn't sound like much, but the response time on this game is
astounding. When you swoosh your saber, you see your blade move onscreen and
hear the proper corresponding sound. Awesome! You learn special moves through
tutorials in the Jedi Council chamber, and can block other saber swings, attack,
and even reflect blaster bolts.
The 2-D graphics are on the level of the Sega Genesis, so they aren't much to
look at, but the sounds really help to sell the experience. I don't think I
really spent a lot of time examining the graphics anyway. I was too busy trying
to dodge blaster bolts. Star Wars Light Saber Battle Game is included in the top
star wars Lego, galaxy, games, toys for kids, action figures, posters, books,
DVD, movies and video games.
The saber has no batteries, and no moving parts. The training remote has four
infrared emitters that reflect off the saber and track its movement back to the
"eye" of the remote. While it's powered by four AA batteries (which
seem to last quite a while), it also has a jack on the back for an AC adaptor
(if you have a universal adaptor you can use that).
No, this game won't baby sit your small children for you or balance your
checkbook, but it'll give you an awful lot of fun and get you up and moving at
the same time.
If there were only a way to lightsaber Jar-Jar this game would be perfect.

Limited
Edition Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber
$370
This saber is really cool and looks just like the one from
the movie REVENGE OF THE SITH. When I hold it I feel like Obi-Wan but it doesn't
extend.
In the climactic finale to the prequel trilogy, Obi-Wan
Kenobi is armed with a new lightsaber — built when he ascended to the Jedi
Council. This weapon is destined to fight on, through "Revenge of the
Sith" and beyond to Kenobi's ultimate demise in Episode IV—which was
released in 1977. Thus, the props department was charged with retaining the
iconic lightsaber's original handle details—which were crafted from a World
War I grenade and a faucet—while revising its form in such a way that would
fit with the 2005 film's design aesthetic.
A classic re-created, the resulting piece took on a narrower,
more streamlined design—which made it easier to wield in Episode III's fast
and furious lightsaber fights—but with a similar looking hilt. This machined
aluminum reproduction of the new design is engineered from the actual prop used
in filming.
Chrome plating and high-gloss black resin features—along
with polished brass and copper-painted accent parts—make this limited edition
replica a truly authentic and interesting showpiece. Comes with a
custom-designed display case, numbered metal display plaque and a certificate of
authenticity. Display case has a matte black base, mirrored floor, acrylic
supports and acrylic dust cover. Saber: approx. 11Lx1" dia. Display case:
14Lx4-3/4Wx6H".
